• We can teach you skills you should have been taught during your basic training. Skills that were part of basic flight training in the 1950’s but are no longer in the RA or GA syllabus!  You will learn how to really ‘FLY’ and ‘THINK’ in 3 dimensions!

• We don’t stop there! To make you a more accomplished and safer pilot we specialise in Spin Prevention & Recovery Training (SPRT), Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT), Emergency Manoeuvre  Training (EMT), Aerobatics Training and more!

• In Australia today these training options are only available at a handful of specialised flying schools, usually in ‘tandem seating’ aerobatic rated aircraft.  At SCAA we go one step further! Unless you plan to fly fighter jets or vintage taildraggers, almost every aircraft you fly—from a Cessna 172 or a Piper Warrior up to a Boeing 737 or an Airbus A320—uses side-by-side seating. Training in the same physical configuration makes the visual cues, instrument scan, and muscle memory highly transferable to your actual flying.

Location Location!

• All flight training and adventure flights take place above the spectacular coastline and hinterland.

• The nearby Sunshine Coast Airport allows us to provide  general competency and revision training for pilots that don’t get to fly regularly in Class D airspace.

• Operating from multiple locations listed below you can gain CASA AERO and SPIN endorsements, and our UPRT certification, via our intensive full-time Aerobatics, SPRT and UPRT courses. Or, just enjoy our Airborne Thrills & Adventure Flights.

  • Caloundra  Aerodrome *, at the southern tip of the Sunshine Coast, less than an hours drive from North Brisbane.  If the longer drive up to Gympie is not convenient for you, we offer training courses for UPRT, SPRT, EMT and Aerobatics from GoFly Aviation’s facilities. This is not our home base so additional costs for the repositioning of our aircraft apply.

  • Gympie Aerodrome, at Kybong, in the beautiful Mary Valley, just 30 minutes drive north from Noosa or 15 minutes drive south from historic Gympie. This is our home base for all of our advanced training courses, and our TOP GUN flights where those with no previous pilot training can take the controls and experience aerobatic flight. A great location that allows us to conduct nearly all of our training directly overhead the airfield (zero time wasted transiting to/from a training area!).

Video Recording

• All aircraft can be equipped with the Garmin Virb 30 high definition video and audio recording which is a fantastic training aid and an exciting record of an Adventure Flight experience to share with family and friends!  Just select the Flight Video option during ‘checkout’.

• The Garmin Virb 30 records flight data such as ground speed, altitude, G force, flight track and much more.  Using the free Garmin video editor, you can choose to add flight data into the video. How cool is that!  The video recording of your flight will be available to download, stream or share with friends for a minimum of 30 days after your flight.  You can play on a TV, smart phone, laptop and any device that supports MP4 video.
